Here is a look at what's new this week in family entertainment as adapted from reviews and ratings by Common Sense Media. Click on the links to read the reviews in full.

In Theaters: "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader"
An adaptation of C.S. Lewis' third "Chronicles of Narnia" book, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" finds the youngest Pevensie children swept up into an adventure at sea. While there is plenty of sword play and some scenes of peril, the film focuses mainly on the relationships between the main characters. Rated PG, OK for kids 10+

DVD: "Shrek Forever After"
Everyone's favorite ogre and his pals are back in "Shrek Forever After," the fourth installment of the popular series. This one features an alternate universe plot that lets the familiar characters step into very different roles. It's funny, has a positive message and the violence is of the humorous slapstick variety. Rated PG, OK for kids 6+

TV: "Christmas Cupid"
Putting a Hollywood spin on Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," ABC Family's "Christmas Cupid" replaces Scrooge with a workaholic PR executive. After her famous client unexpectedly dies, the main character is shown the error of her ways by the ghosts of her past, present and future lives. Sexual situations, strong language and lots of alcohol consumption make this movie inappropriate for younger viewers. Rated TV-14, OK for kids 14+

Books: "Of Thee I Sing"
President Barack Obama's "Of Thee I Sing" is a love letter to his daughters in which he draws parallels between Sasha and Malia and 13 American heroes. Beautifully illustrated by Loren Long, the book profiles a diverse group of people who have made a difference in the world. OK for kids 4+

Music: "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" by Kanye West
As the title suggests, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is not a collection of light-hearted pop songs. Bleak and despairing, the 13 tracks on this album are full of profanity, explicit sexual situations and references to violence and drugs. It's a depressing collection of songs that are inappropriate even for older teens. Iffy for kids 16-18

Games: "Shawn Johnson Gymnastics"
For Nintendo Wii, "Shawn Johnson Gymnastics" puts players on the road to a world championship by following in the footsteps of superstar gymnast Johnson. Practice makes perfect as players simulate Johnson's moves using the Wii remote or balance board. Rated E, OK for kids 7+

Web: Reach Out
Teens in crisis can find support and information at "Reach Out," a site created by the Inspire USA Foundation. Through user-submitted essays, videos and audio stories, teens can share their experiences and help others get through the tough times. The real-life stories often involve violence, sex and other mature themes. OK for kids 13+
