Switzerland Debates Legalizing Incest

Incest and pedaphilia will both be legal and acceptable in a generation or less. Both marrige and DADT will have to include these two alternative lifesyles. Don't believe it? I do.. I've seen it happen... and so have you.

Wait a second .. I get the impression that the great majority here deem incest to be unacceptable, while clearly the social trend is acceptance of an otherwise unnatural sexual appetite.

Abhorrence of incest is a natural thing among humans and all primates. It is not about morals. It evolved by natural selection to avoid sexual inbreeding which causes disastrous physical abnormalities in offspring. Weakness is doomed in the struggle for survival. Brothers and sisters, raised apart may find each other years later and fall in love despite the instinctual taboo which would have been there had they been raised together. In fact there are non-siblings in Israel raised together in a kibbutz as close as siblings. Such kibbutz kids surprisingly do not marry each other as planned. Incest is instinctively taboo in primates and humans raised as siblings. Not to worry. Sibling marriage could usually only happen very rarely to brothers and sisters not raised together. They do not have the instinctive taboo though they might be told they should not consider marriage. Wouldn't it be up to them what to do especially in regard to the consequences of having offspring. The instinctual taboo among those raised as siblings would normally be to cause a sense of disgust at the very thought as illustrated here by many comments against incest. Nature's way of preventing feeble offspring. Never mind religion. Incest taboo predates religion. But without having offspring, one could argue that there is nothing physically harmful about love and sex between siblings. Socially would be a huge problem. Historically our families were often very tightly intermarried. There were indeed many genetic problems caused by cousins repeatedly marrying over generations within families. Regarding incestuous relations, we still have to protect against abusive domination in marriages such as marrying an under age child to an adult. A few societies do not acknowledge the rights of women and young girls in marriage. Sadly humans historically do what they think works best and then invent a religious authority to justify what they do. We humans seem to mollify our conscience by any moral excuse. For example, anyone can see that killing and eating a helpless creature is abhorrent to most of us. Would you personally dare to enter a slaughter house. Isn’t it a sad moment when the day comes you have to tell your modern child where chicken mac nuggets come from or hamburgers? We take the kids to church and proclaim that God made the animals for our pleasure. After all we wrote the Book, not the Cows. We then can kill living beings wantonly. It is slaughter true and true. Let's be honest. We usually do not face the reality of the steak in front of us. God made all things for us we believe. We kill, as in murder, as we may. Falling in love with a brother or sister is naturally very unlikely to ever happen. It is small stuff. Killing the calf child of a cow crying for mercy for her young happens by the hundreds of thousands every single day and makes no headlines. Not a stir. We have a wonderfully tender veal steak for our lunch. Ah humanity. We are evolving into a creature that will someday learn to weep as it says grace.

Incest is a taboo for the reasons deemed. Yet, it is a moral dillema for a child to be molested by a father, brother or other relative. And, this is punishable by law in the U.S.

One must think of the long range consequences of this unlawful act by a predator upon a young child. I would consider tightening the laws against incest. Presently, those charged with such a crime are let off more easily then if the child was m olested by a stranger.

Must be Switzerland has been lax in applying such laws and the result is to legalize incest. Outrageous!

Does this proposed law tend to exonerate for example, a mother who has abused her son sexually when a child from the criminal offences she has committed? Does this law consider the resultant mental devastations that have been caused by the abuse? What a horror!

The Swiss banned construction of minarets last year. Now they're considering legalizing incest. What a messed up system of values. People are being extreme. They are not legalizing pedophilia, which is abuse of a child by an adult. They are talking about legalizing incest, sex between two consenting adults who are somehow related.

Wow... so many comments on how terrible this law would be for kids, even though it only applies to adults. People should read links before they launch into tirades against something which doesn't exist.

Adults. Sounds sick, but who cares? And for those raising religious arguments, you need to read the Bible, particularly Leviticus 18 and 20, and Deuteronomy. It allows, for example, for a man to marry his niece, his half sister on his mother's side, or (although it seems to be deemed undesirable) even his own daughter. Lot's daughters get their dad drunk and have children by him (Genesis 19), yet they all seem to have God's approval.

It's only about consenting adults. Get over it already.

Im not allowed to tell anyone they cant be gay, i also cant tell anyone they cant have an incestual relationship. The mountains that surround the Swiss from the rest of the world makes me think these people haven't come out of the earths womb yet. But they are a cold people who have banks and great acocuntants. Especially hiding super rich people money. They took any jewels, gold and money while the nazis were devouring europe. Incest legal? Maybe the nuetral Swiss deserve this horrid law ...God forbid! Look guys if a mother fancies a bit of her son or a daughter wants her father to deflower herest, as long as the ADULTS agree and I did say agree well so be it. at least they have each other.
I think that it is a perfectly acceptable thing to do, as regards the
