Oral Sex in 2nd Grade? Apparently So at a California Elementary School

Second-graders stripping naked and having oral sex in the middle of class?
"If the reports are true, there was a serious lapse of judgment or lack of supervision in the classroom," Troy Flint, a spokesman for California's Oakland Unified School District, tells the Associated Press.
Surprisingly, few people disagree.
Children learn basic school rules on the first day of class. No running in the hall. No pushing in the lunch line. No oral sex while the teacher is trying to read "Charlotte's Web."
Yet, a second grader at Markham Elementary School in Oakland told school officials she saw some of her classmates doing a lot more than sitting in a tree and K-I-S-S-I-N-G. The 7-year-old girl spoke of two incidents, ABC News reports, one that included some of her classmates stripping and another where two kids allegedly had oral sex.
The network reports school officials and police officers are investigating the charges.
School Principal Pam Booker sent a letter to parents and staff last week, informing them of "a disturbing event which, according to initial findings, took place at Markham Elementary recently."
Booker added that the teacher is on administrative leave and will not be returning to class while the investigation is under way.
Reports conflict on whether the teacher was in the room when the alleged incident took place. The grandmother of the girl who reported the incident tells ABC New she doesn't think the teacher was present, but school officials tell the network they're not so sure.
Regardless, parent Nikki Turner tells ABC News, "the teacher should have paid more attention to what's going on."
Allen Saunders, who has a nephew in the class, blames the parents for the children's alleged behavior.
"They learn that at home," he tells the network. "They don't teach that at school."
Pediatrician and child abuse expert Dr. Jim Crawford tells ABC News what people should be most concerned about is the children themselves.
"My concern would be maybe something happened to one or more of the kids involved and that they're responding in this type of behavior because of what happened to them," he tells ABC News.

Bible School Teacher Charged With 26 Counts Of Sex Abuse
A former Cumberland County music teacher has been charged with 26 counts of sex crimes against his students.
Bill Jackson, who worked at the Bible Baptist School in Shiremanstown, was taken into custody Wednesday morning.
Court records show a 17-year-old boy told police Jackson fondled him while they were alone in his classroom. His parents gave police 19 pages of sexually charged messages between the boy and Jackson.

f_wunder said...And this is somehow shocking to all of us as we teach our teenagers to sow their wild oats while they're young and how so many of us sowed our wild oats and now regret it and yet we pass along the same bad advice that we didn't take seriously ourselves.
Add to that the problem of pornography, the father who watches it or looks at it or the general negligence of the parents who don't really care and that's only the beginning.
Who is to blame for all of this?
That's simple: all of us. This is the collective fault of a society and culture that hides their own depravity behind politics and political correctness.
These kids don't care about living morally, they just got caught at the wrong time. If mom and dad had taught them morality or lived morally themselves...but that's not politically correct is it?

Jody said...I find it incredibly difficult to believe that children (that's plural) removed their clothes, even partially, and engaged in sex acts in a classroom without the teacher knowing about it, without the other children laughing or being verbally outraged about it, or without other children immediately bringing it to the attention of the teacher. The average classroom size for second grade is 32 students. These alleged acts did not occur in an auditorium size room, with the lights dimmed, behind or beneath stair risers. It sounds like an overly active imagination on the part of the reporting student. Perhaps it is the student's cry for help.

Its only self-dicipline that stops some adults from visiting adult-only web sites. As a child you learn by exploring your world. And it can all be found on the internet. Don't blame parents or teachers, we all are just as responsible for the destruction of our kids childhoods. Todays freedoms, will not go unpunished by us all. Yes TV has changed, but still has limits, but its easy street on the net.
Did not read all earlier comments. But did notice a blame on TV, Teachers and other parents. When was the last time your neighbor thank you for disiplining his child or bringing the subject up to them. I think never. As a child I knew if I was seen doing something wrong, I heard about it, and my parents were greatful to the person who informed them of the incident. Today, Parents are to high and mighty, their family is without error, and we will sue those who present us with the truth.
The king has no cloths on, don't ignore your thoughts, just to fit in. Tell him, Get some cloths on.

calistud4fem said...i hate to say it but i had a feeling it was a black school, I remember going to a black school in the hood for a year, i hated it, the kids were unruly and most of the teachers didnt care about anything, this was in the early 80's , My God i can't even imagine what schools are like now bu anyways, Ii went back to my old town which wasn't in the hood and finished school there.,
1. yes the parents have to stop having kids or watching porn in front of kids but
2. the stupid teacher should stop this type of behavior and not solely blame the parents, how stupid can a teacher be to allow this crap happening? and that teacher OR principal is a sorry MF to say its only the parents fault. Seriously? you see students doing sexual activity in your class and you're going to allow this? For the ill kids to have done this then obviously they knew the teacher doesn't care, and that grandmother should have enough sense not to send her kid back to that school ,that school should be shut down.

2. hate to say it but I had a feeling this was in a black school, I went to a black school for only 1year and I got the hell out of there, this was in Inglewood CA, in the mid 80s, Lord knows what students are doing at now, Most not all but Most of the teachers did not give a damn about teaching and would let you do anything, i hated these schools since they did not care about anything and was extremely poor, they did not teach and it was just a waste going to school in the hood as they call it.
3. I'm black by the way but just telling you my experience, sure I was called the N word at times but I much rather have had that then the crazy crap I saw in predominately black schools.
