Boy Says He Has Been to Heaven, Where Everyone Has Wings
Filed under: In The News, Religion & Spirituality
Todd and Sonja Burpo may have believed an angel was looking over their 4-year-old son, who survived a life-threatening burst appendix.
Colton Burpo, now 11, says it's true.
"A few angels, they came, picked me up and I was looking right at Jesus," Colton, from the small town of Imperial, Neb., tells "Today."
After 17 days in the hospital, the boy started to talk about things he could not have known about, "Today" reports, including a miscarriage suffered by his mother, prayers his father made during Colton's surgery and meeting "Pop," his great-grandfather.
"I was just sitting by the Holy Spirit, and then this guy comes up to me and says, 'are you Todd's son?' I said yes. He says, 'Well, I'm his grandfather," Colton tells "Today." "... Pop, he was very big, huge wings, he had curly hair, big smile and he was really nice."
The experience led Todd Burpo, a pastor, to write the New York Times best-selling nonfiction book "Heaven is for Real."
"He could tell me where I was while he was in surgery," Todd Burpo tells "Today." "The surgeons couldn't tell me that. The nurses couldn't. My wife couldn't tell me where I was praying but he could tell me."
Sonja Burpo says her son told her angels sang to him.
"There's a lot of colors, there are a lot of people and a lot of animals," Colton says, describing Heaven.
He also says everyone in Heaven has wings -- his were a bit smaller than other's, and that no one there is old.
"I like that part," Todd Burpo says.
Todd Burpo says Colton's story has inspired so many people because of "hope, healing -- they know what they have to look forward to," he tells "Today."

If Jesus Christ was to come down from Heaven and bonk you on the head to get your attention, you'd still find something in it to debunk. Personally, I KNOW there is a Heaven. This is not the only story of it's kind, there are many, many others. People who have literally died and been brought back, because they were told their work here on earth was not done yet. Their discriptions of Heaven are virtually indentical, and these people have never met. Google Jesse Duplantis, a man who died, went to Heaven, came back and described it, just as many other have. Don't disclaim or debunk what you don't understand. The Bible says that Hell will be more highly populated than Heaven, which is evident from some of these posts.

Bug said...It's truth because other people have described heaven similarly? Are you kidding me? Thousands of writers have described vampires the same way, so obviously they're real too.

beetlejuice666 said..."Google Jesse Duplantis...." and learn his images, so you can repeat them in your story. Same thing with all the people who do not know each other, but have seen extra-terresterials, or even have been abducted by them. In psychiatry, its called "folie a deux" - a shared delusion.

wingsandaprayer said...Add to that... God Is a GOD OF LOVE AND FORGIVENESS as taught by JESUS.
Solomon, David's son, was purported to have been given great wisdom by God, yet even Solomon questioned the purpose of life on earth to the point that he exclaimed it was all for nothing so we might as well eat and be merry, to enjoy our time and our circumstances as we are all going to be dust.
But, see? SOLOMON DID NOT KNOW ABOUT JESUS! THAT is the main difference! God came to earth, as his holy son, Jesus, to not only provide man with a means of salvation that stopped the bloody sacrifices that the Jews had to make... as Christ was the sacrificial lamb for all time. Jesus reinterpreted the old laws and made a new covenant for man. He taught about the loving and forgiving GOD as the NEW TESTAMENT.
Jesus of Nazareth was rejected by many Jews of that day because they thought their Messiah would be a mighty warrior and not the peace and love teaching man that Jesus was. When Christ comes at the Second Coming, the Jews will get their mighty warrior and the believers will get their resurrection.
Don't forget... the greatest accomlishment of the devil, the TRUE one who's name must not be uttered... was that he convinced people that he doesn't exist.
DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG? So many, today, obviously do not.
Blessings and curses can carry for generations. Stop the curses and get back to God. He WILL talk if you will only be quiet and listen.

Also the Old Testament commandments weren't reinterpreted. The law of Moses was FULFILLED by the Savior because He (Jesus) was the sacrificial lamb...the ultimate sacrifice. The Savior, saying simply, "bought" us with His sacrifice. We are covered by His atonement. Thus if we follow the Savior's commandments (the Law of the New Testament) which is a higher law than of the Old Testament. Then He will allow his atonement to do away with our sins. But this was no "reinterpretation" it was fulfilling the Law of Moses for a new higher law.

You did not mention whether you had ever accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior. Surely in your reading of the Bible you came across numerous passages all relating to this very important step. Not the least of which is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Simply reading the Bible, or trying to be a good person is not enough to get you into heaven. We are born into a world of sin. We are imperfect being, and can never be "good" enough on our own to merit Heaven. It takes the blood of Christ our Savior to get us there. That is why he made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Ken Hedgecock said...Reading the scriptures won't save you as we must be baptized, live the commandments and as Paul said...do good works. If the poor guy thinks that reading the scriptures alone will save him, he needs to read them again...maybe without speed reading them. Search, ponder and pray! :)
