Year after year, you practice your "I love it" face in the mirror before receiving your Mother's Day gift. Of course, you appreciate your family's effort, but you'll likely be returning whatever gift you're unwrapping. To avoid the inevitable Mother's Day gift blooper, forward this guide to Dad to give him some not-so-subtle clues on gift-buying don'ts.

C'mon. Women can like pool tables and football, too. And my favorite gift ever from my husband was when he took me to the restaurant supply store and helped me pick out a bunch of stuff that, five years later, I still use.

Some are obvious on the not to get mom, but really I'd love it if my husband bought me a bubble bath basket or a Kitchen Aid Mixer and before I bought our awesome grill, had he bought me one I'd have LOVED it! Sorry, but the woman who wrote this is pretty clueless. Here's a thought, come up with a list for husband's/dad to help them out with gift idea's.

I asked for both a Snuggie and Mixer for Mother's Day. I think that obligatory gift giving is wrought with problems anyway. There's nothing wrong with giving a list of what you want or maybe forgoing gift giving altogether and buying your own treats.
