Mom Allegedly Threatens Little League Official Because Her Son Didn't Make the Team
Filed under: In The News
Talk about a parent totally striking out.
Janet Chiauzzi, an East Meadow, N.Y. mom, has been arrested and charged with stalking, falsely reporting an incident, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment, allegedly because her son did not make a summer baseball travel team, "Today" reports.
Chiauzzi allegedly threatened the Little League official she deemed responsible, sending letters to his kids' school that accused him of physical and verbal abuse, according to the news show, and even addressed the official's own young son.
"If something happens to your dad or mom, or your sister, you can blame your dad for not taking these threats seriously," she allegedly wrote.
The charges of abuse against the man were investigated and dismissed, "Today" reports.
In a letter to the official, Chiauzzi allegedly threatens the man's family, the news show adds.
"I know where your wife works ... I know where your daughter goes to school and your son's normal every day routine. ... Just tell your wife and kids to watch themselves, especially at night. I don't care what it takes, I'm going to make your life and your family's life a living hell. These are not just words and empty threats," she allegedly wrote.
"Today" reports Chiauzzi's attorney calls the allegations "shocking" and he states the woman is a "PTA mom" and that she is not guilty.
"This is a very thought-through, premeditated, elongated process that went on, and, in a way, I find that to be more disturbing," psychologist Gail Saltz tells "Today."

She isn't a mother. She's an egg donor and a danger to society. And yeah..I got all this from those empty eyes. Just sayin'...

Nancy said...Exactly: I'm sure this chick went overboard & has a screw loose.........but you have to realize how far-fetched the accusations are (I think they were exaggerated to get the attention they are getting now). She would have realized that she wouldn't have gotten away with it.

Seriously just because she is a PTA mom does not make her not guilty. If they have the letters I would think that it would be pretty hard to say she didn't do it .... the mom needs to seek help before she ends up killing someone.

So if Johnny is number 20, but they only need 15 players, then Johnny doesn't make the cut. Parents can be sooooo over the top when it comes to their kids playing in the league. I know because my husband coached for many years and heard every story possible as to why their kid should play first, second, third, catcher, pitcher, etc. One parent went out and paid $300 for a catcher's 'outfit' and kept pushing my husband to 'put him in'. After the first few pitches, he really didn't want the job anymore. My husband used to have the kids play for their spots, but he was not against putting a child in a spot to have him try it and get good in it. He had a very well rounded team because, and other coaches were always trying to steal his kids. Now my 2 boys never got the dream jobs simply because he was the coach, they had to earn their spots just like the other kids. That always made me proud. And I always felt sorry for him having to put up with the parents.

Heidi said...What a whack job of a woman! I bet her son feels entitled to everything and is a spoiled brat. Kids need to get used to disappointment. I am sorry that he didn't make the team but she could have used her energy to help him practice and encourage him rather than threaten the coach. When I was in girls little league, I was lousy at it and got hit by the ball three times in practice. The coach and in particular this one umpire were understanding but my mom didn't stalk them cause I wasn't good at it. I just found something else I was good at. My sister Diane was a fantastic athlete.

Mayflower said...Parents have got to calm down when it comes to their kids & sports. This genneration of parents has gone way overboard in thinking their kids are on their way to scholarship or the pro's. The absolute fact is that VERY few of these kids will ever see a pro contract. Here's the stats:
3 out of 10,000 senior boys playing HS basketball will go on to the NBA; 8 out of 10,000 senior boys playing HS football will go on to NFL; and 1 out of 200 senior boys playing HS baseball will be drafted by MLB. Even IF your kid makes the high school team and IF he makes the D1 college team and IF he makes it to the pro's, that still doesn't mean he will be a superstar or even last past his initial contract. IT IS VERY VERY VERY UNLIKELY your kid will ever get that far so calm down, and work on his character, his organization, his work ethic & other strengths that may help to land him a decent-paying job some day.

Mary said...What? A good coach will help all the kids on the team develop individually and as a team. Teamwork helps you deal with the wins and losses. Teamwork raises you up, and consoles you when you make a mistake. Consoles you, not coddles you. Teamwork is very important in life. I am sure you know that. Unfortunately, it is the parents who feel their child should have the best of everything, and that they ARE the best of everything and are so deserving of the best. They are the ones who are setting their kids up for failure.
