Mom Allegedly Threatens Little League Official Because Her Son Didn't Make the Team
Filed under: In The News
Talk about a parent totally striking out.
Janet Chiauzzi, an East Meadow, N.Y. mom, has been arrested and charged with stalking, falsely reporting an incident, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment, allegedly because her son did not make a summer baseball travel team, "Today" reports.
Chiauzzi allegedly threatened the Little League official she deemed responsible, sending letters to his kids' school that accused him of physical and verbal abuse, according to the news show, and even addressed the official's own young son.
"If something happens to your dad or mom, or your sister, you can blame your dad for not taking these threats seriously," she allegedly wrote.
The charges of abuse against the man were investigated and dismissed, "Today" reports.
In a letter to the official, Chiauzzi allegedly threatens the man's family, the news show adds.
"I know where your wife works ... I know where your daughter goes to school and your son's normal every day routine. ... Just tell your wife and kids to watch themselves, especially at night. I don't care what it takes, I'm going to make your life and your family's life a living hell. These are not just words and empty threats," she allegedly wrote.
"Today" reports Chiauzzi's attorney calls the allegations "shocking" and he states the woman is a "PTA mom" and that she is not guilty.
"This is a very thought-through, premeditated, elongated process that went on, and, in a way, I find that to be more disturbing," psychologist Gail Saltz tells "Today."

SO - let him do something(s) else he would like and let her sit in Jail until baseball season is over.

Maybe there's something else he'd be good at...like bad-mitten, or hopscotch? How sad that parents can't accept that their children aren't all-stars...encourage them to do their best and support their right to have fun, but not at another's expense! Time to find a new interest kiddo!

Carol said...What the mother did is inexcusable. However, Little League is very political. Maybe the kid IS good enough to make the team, but there was another reason for not taking him. We have so much dissention in our town's Little League that it makes me sick. Parents ruin sports for children.

Brandy Gehr said...This mother is seriously mentally deranged. She is a danger to the community. She is also a frightening example to her son. No one in their right mind would have ever chosen to deal with this matter in such a vicious way. I can't imagine Child Protective Services would allow her to keep her child or children until such time when she can prove she has had the necessary medical treatments she needs to be qualified to have her children.

A Long Island mom was busted for sending threatening letters to her son's baseball coach because he didn't make the team's travel squad, cops said Sunday.
Janet Chiauzzi, 44, of East Meadow sent numerous letters to the coach threatening violence against his wife and 14-year-old daughter, Nassau County police said.
She even sent a letter to the principal of the coach's children's school claiming he was molesting his kids, cops said.
This led to an investigation by Nassau County Protective Services, which determined the allegations were bogus.
Chiauzzi also sent six more letters to officials with the East Meadow Little League team trashing him and demanding he be fired, cops said.
She was arrested Saturday night. Chiauzzi is charged with stalking, falsely reporting an incident, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment.
A woman who answered a call at Chiauzzi's home declined comment before slamming the phone down.
She will be arraigned on Monday, cops said.

Mary said...In this summer's heat and hectic weather, Little League is way overrated. Start a neighborhood evening get together for the kids like we did when we were kids. Neighbors had badmitten sets in their backyards, croquet sets in their front yards, decks of cards for Euchre, Hearts, and Gin Rummy the dining rooms after it got dark outside. Depending on the what we wanted to do, there was plenty of fun competition. We also played games like tag, Red Rover, and Kickball (kind of the same rules as softball and baseball). It is played on a baseball diamond formation. Most of us were tired and dirty by bedtime. Our parents had no problem convincing us it was time to go to sleep. Summers were great back then. Occasionally we would even take a dip in someone's pool or go splash around in a creek. Life before video games was a lot of fun.

Too often we do NOT even KNOW our neighbors and excuse it as way too busy working and need own privacy/etc..The age of CONNECTIVITY by TECHNOLOGY has NOT exactly done civilization great favors as we too often see around and about , gatherings where folks are HOOKED to their various macxhines even WHEN WITH OTHER HUMAN BEINGS/friends(supposedly) but little true communication going between them all !!! No wonder that civilized behavior seems scant,,,too many UNABLE to actually relate or actually connect with each other having lost ability to do so which limits everyone.

Unfortunately, kids and their parents today are absorbed by technology and in turn self absored. Long gone the days of getting fresh air and being creative. Unfortunately, we are the far and few in between when it comes to true life skills.

That signals that the front yard party will be there, It looked like everyone brought their own food to share and had a fun evening with the kids and adults alike. I was thinking I would love to do it with our block.

If a child really wants to prove a set of coaches wrong, then that child can be encouraged to work extra hard to make that opportunity a possibility. My grandson was the kid at the bottom of every coach's batting order when he was young. He did not accept that. So he asked us play extra catch. He asked us to hit balls to him to practice fielding. He took extra batting practice. He listened extra hard to what his coaches were trying to teach him. To this day the coaches are impressed with his hustle, and it is why he has now moved past some of those "travel" kids and is playing with his high school varsity team. This life lesson will follow him in whatever he does as he becomes an adult.
