Ok Let's pick these movies apart:
Jungle Book, King Louie. He is an APE. He sings "I Wanna Be Just Like You" as he wants to be HUMAN. No racism/dicrimination here.
Peter Pan, "Red Man". Actually in the credits he is listed as Indian Chief.
The Little Mermaid, Sebastian. He sings about HUMANS working away up on the shore in the sun and comparing it to living under the sea and just floating around. Sebastain has a job as the Kings advisor.
With the exception of Aladdin, the other three need to be taken in the context of the times and when they were made. Fantasia (1940's) Dumbo (1950's), Song of the South (1970's). Granted, by todays standards the first two do a great disservice. Song of the South on the other hand, I believe tried to show a more balance take on things. Granted it took place during the Civil War, but this is a CHILDRENS movie. You are not going to show people getting whipped in a children's movie!
Did you ever stop and wonder WHY Song of the South has never been released on VHS or DVD in the US? It is because the more extreme groups would be up in arms to either santize things or make it more believable for the timeframe it took place in.
GADS I am sure some groups would like to take Mark Twain's classics and change things to African American Jim. It is a STORY. It was set and written during the CIVIL WAR period. This is how people THOUGHT back then. Everything needs to be viewed in the context of when it was made/written/created. It is history, a snapshot taken in time.... at times not a very pretty picture.... but it is something that can not and should not be changed. Learn, live, grow and change by what history has given us, don't try to sanitize and paint a more PC picture
