When daddy has a new wife, things can sometimes get a little tense. In the best of circumstances, the new stepmother will be a positive addition to the family, loving her husband's child while respecting the child's biological mother. It seems that new bride Gisele Bundchen is getting that only half right.

Bundchen began dating New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady right about the time he discovered his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, was pregnant. While I am sure that made for some awkward conversations on those first few dates, it seems to have worked out just fine. Moynahan gave birth to John Edward Thomas (Jack) in August of 2007 and is happily raising him as a single mother. Brady and Bundchen were married this past February and from all appearances are blissfully in love.

But hold off on the happily ever after. Whether or not she intended to, Bundchen has stirred up a debate on appropriate stepmother behavior with comments she made in a new Vanity Fair interview. Over at Cafe Mom, many readers are disgusted by Bundchen's declaration that since the day he was born, little Jack was "100 percent hers."

Minnie Driver may want to give Bridget Moynahan a call. Ms. Moynahan has experience in something Minnie thinks she may be taking on pretty soon: single motherhood. The actress, who is expecting any day now, says she isn't certain whether or not she'll stay with the baby's father and is considering single motherhood as a definite option. Minnie has even set the stage for the possibility of a man-free world by surrounding herself with family and friends to help rear the baby.

According to the actress she'll have her mother, aunt and best friends to support her. Minnie has still refused to let on who the father of the baby is. She is also quoted as saying it's great to be independent in that way--and she certainly already has a leg up on that by denying the Hollywood gossip rags info on the baby daddy! Way to go, Minnie!

Minnie has also stated she'll probably go for a regular old baby name instead of some type of fruit, a day of the week or something that belongs on a space station. We'll see about that--she's resisted telling us the baby's daddy, the sex and now she wants a normal name? Who is this person who does whatever she wants? Independent indeed!

According to a recent report, actress Bridget Moynahan recently admitted she feared being a single mom and motherhood. Moynahan found out she was pregnant nearly moments after she split with her ex--football superstar Tom Brady. Brady began dating supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Bridget gave birth to their beautiful son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan.

Moynahan says she is "...a traditional girl" and that she always figured she'd settle down and get married. She did not ever see herself going through parenthood alone. She was also candid about having a newborn, for which we get no real training, and how scary that is. I find this kind of honesty from celebrity parents so refreshing. Most of the time they make it look so easy to have a large lifestyle and kids.

I think Bridget--and any parent who goes through parenthood alone--is extremely brave for what she's doing. I admire that she and Tom are still on decent terms (at least that is how the media is presenting it) and trying to get along for the sake of their son. Could I do it? I don't know. I think it's amazing what single parents accomplish. My husband is out of town on business for a week and I am finding it very challenging to get anything done! Still, if that's the way things were, I would gladly sacrifice washing those dishes in the sink for taking full responsibility for my son. Moynahan basically agrees with that sentiment and says she wouldn't trade the role of motherhood for anything, though, and doesn't appear to be looking for anyone's pity.

Pop Sugar has a poll up this week asking us if we'd have a child out of wedlock. The topic in question is based on the recent news that both Jamie Lynn Spears and British singer Lily Allen are planning to have kids--gasp!--without being married.

In the not so distant past footballer Tom Brady and one-time love Bridget Moynahan decided not to tie the knot; she gave birth to their son right after they broke up. Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams lived together, bought a brownstone together (the ultimate for we Brooklynites in commitment) had a baby together, and then broke up. And let's not even get started on Brad and Angie. They have four kids between them, hope for more and are not interested in tying the knot until laws are changed allowing anyone who wants to get married to do so.

Does America love or hate the fact that celebs--or anyone, for that matter--are having kids without being married? well, not that Pop Sugar has all the answers, but you'll have to vote to hear what others on the site think. What do you think?

I have to say I'm a modern gal and that I think a child in the world is a beautiful thing not dependent on having the traditional mom and dad married with children scenario. There are plenty of good parents out there, celebrity and otherwise, who are not married or who are single parents.

I am married to my baby daddy so I can't really speculate on what it's like to not be married to the father of my child or what it's like to be a single parent, but it seems to me that so long as a child is loved by whomever is involved in the child's life that's what matters most.

Would it be nice if they were married? Perhaps. But just because they get married doesn't mean they'll STAY married, and having a child between them is no guarantee the union will last either. Again, from speculation only, it seems like divorce might be harder on everyone than just keeping things how they are.

I have witnessed many a divorce and all I can say is that it's tough on the parents and even tougher on the kids.

It's true that Gisele Bundchen might not have had a whole lot of great options when buying a gift for her boyfriend's ex-girllfriend, who'd just had his baby. Poor Gisele was kind of doomed if she did: doomed if she didn't, If she ignored the birth of the little boy, she'd have been slapped in the tabloids as an uncaring daddy-stealer. So, it seems, she went ahead and bought a gift for the son of Bridget Moynahan and Tom Brady -- but I'd say she definitely got the wrong thing.

A few weeks ago, I posted about the rumour that Moynahan planned her baby's birthdate for the same date as Bundchen's birthday. A passive-aggressive knife in the back, kind of. And maybe deserved. And now it seems Gisele is pulling a similar maneuver by including a "Super Model" onesie in a gift package to Moynahan and Brady's new baby boy. Um, ouch. And also, why bother? I'm sure that onesie was in the trash can within minutes.

It would have been nice if she sent a soft blanket and a humble note of congratulations, but I guess that wouldn't make headline fodder.

A common step for me in the baby naming process involved throwing things my husband. ("Mickey Mouse Felton"? "Superman Terminator Rambo Felton"? Wouldn't YOU have thrown things?!) So when the parents are no longer in a relationship, I'm not quite sure how the name selection works. Apparently new parents, Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan don't know either.

At last Friday's New England Patriot game, Tom announced to the crowd that his son's name was Jonathan Brady.

Only Bridget's representatives have been telling people for several days that the little guy's name is John Edward Thomas Moynahan.

If the cell phone connection was really bad, I can understand "John Thomas" sounding like "Jonathan" but not "Moynahan" coming across as "Brady". I'm guessing some innocent glassware might be shattered before this little snafu gets fixed.

In case you haven't been keeping score, Tom Brady is no longer on Bridget Moynahan's team, having transferred to the Gisele Bundchen camp. Only thing is, back while he was making plays with Moynahan, he scored a touchdown. Okay, I don't get all that stuff either. He got Moynahan pregnant before leaving her for Bundchen. That sounds like a bit of a sticky wicket.

In any case, Moynahan is due any day now and Brady not only wants to be there for the birth, he wants to take some time off to help out. "I'm certainly going to get there, and try to be there for the birth; it will be a great experience," he said. "I'm an uncle and I know what it's like to be an uncle. My niece has been up here the last few weeks. My family is extremely close to me, with three older sisters and loving parents and supportive parents, I think everybody is anxious."

Of course, whether or not he gets the time off will be determined, in large part, by his boss, Coach Bill Belichick. "Bill has a lot to say," Brady said, "so we'll deal with it when it happens." Brady has a big game coming up Friday night and when asked if he would change his plans if the game got in the way, he answered, "Yeah, probably. I think that's safe to assume." Because, as we all know, football is more important than a dumb old baby.

Well, whatever happens, I hope the best for the little one!

According to the Internet rumour mill, Bridget Moynahan, famous ex-girlfriend of Tom Brady, is due to give birth to his baby on his new girlfriend's birthday. Tom's current girlfriend, for those who don't follow Hollywood scandal, is Victoria's Secret supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The two were snapped galavanting around the world as news broke that spurned ex-girlfriend Moynahan was a few weeks pregnant with Brady's baby.

I imagine it would be a little...inconvenient for Gisele to share a birthday with her boyfriend's child. Gisele will be celebrating her 27th birthday the day Moynahan is due to give birth.

Now, I can't find a source online, but I heard on the radio today that Moynahan had actually scheduled her C-section for Friday -- and perhaps for vindictive reasons. It could be a little bit of a stab at Gisele, but it could also just be coincidence. I don't know whether Moynahan is the retaliatory sort, but if she wanted to give Gisele a final little shot, this might be a good way to do it. And really? I don't know the circumstance of the breakup between Moynahan and Brady, but it must have been torture to watch her ex smooching on one of the world's most beautiful women while she was at home gestating his baby. Honestly, I wouldn't begrudge her that little stab, I don't think.

Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, is going to be a father. Hooray! But he's no longer together with actress Bridget Moynahan, the baby's mother. Bummer!

On December 15th of last year, Moynahan's publicist released a statement saying that she and Brady had ended their three-year relationship several weeks prior. Now "over three months pregnant," the actress is said to be "excited" about carrying the quarterback's baby.

Brady is also (presumably) excited, albeit for different reasons, as he's been dating lingerie model Gisele Bundchen. We'll hope he's equally interested in playing dad, though his publicist has yet to make an announcement in response to the news from camp Moynahan.

That's going to be one good-looking kid.
