Kevin Federline Launches Kid Clothing Line

Celeb Parenting, Weird But True, Fashion & Clothing

Kevin Federline, aka K-Fed, aka the ex-Mr. Britney Spears, aka "one of the most reviled guys in the U.S. of A.," has a new idea. A children's clothing line.

According to Women's Wear Daily, K-Fed was in Las Vegas to check out the Project trade show "in the interest of research...looking around at the styles...hoping to be inspired by what he saw."

Celeb Fashion Lines

These days, no self respecting celebrity can hold her (or his) head up in Hollywood without a clothing, shoe, handbag, or home furnishings line to call their own. But are these stars really qualified to add designer to their resume? StyleList puts them to the test. First up...
    Celeb:Taylor Swift
Fashion Line: L.E.I. Sundresses by Taylor Swift
Qualifications:The young country singer is releasing a line of frocks this February that her die-hard fans will love and moms can afford. We're sure Swift's brand will expand into denim.

    Celeb: Dita Von Teese
Fashion Line: Science of Sexy for Wonderbra
Qualifications: This burlesque bombshell spends most of her time in scanty skivvies, so we're absolutely confident she is capable of creating amazing lingerie! Of her '40s and '50s-inspired line Von Teese says "Underwear isn't just something that you put on for your lover -- you wear it for you."

    Celeb: Lauren Bush
Fashion Line:Lauren Pierce (hits stores in Spring 2009)
Qualifications: An alum of both Parsons New School for Design in NYC and Central Saint Martins College in London, first niece and former model Lauren Bush definitely has a solid design foundation. Add to that an internship at Zac Posen, a boyfriend with a designer dad (her main squeeze is Ralph Lauren's son) and the success of the popular FEED bags she designed to benefit the U.N.'s World Food Program, and it looks like Ms. Bush has the chops to make her ready-to-wear sustainable fabrics line a hit.

    Celeb: Eva Mendes
    Fashion Line: Vida for Macy's
Qualifications: Calvin Klein's latest controversial ad campaigns features a naked Eva Mendes rolling around on a bed, so perhaps her new venture isn't really all that surprising. The actress and her boyfriend, film producer George Augusto, are launching a collection of sheets and comforters. While neither has any design background, we're betting the betting the lovebirds know how to make a cozy nest.

    Celeb: Mischa Barton
Fashion Line: Mischa Barton for Stacey Lapidus
Qualifications:The former O.C. star gets more ink these days for her hair accessories than her acting jobs so maybe this is a brilliant career move: She's coming out with a line of headbands made from a wide array of materials including silk, feathers and crystals, ranging in price from $40-$200.

    Astrid Stawiarz, Getty Images

    Celeb: Janet Jackson
    Fashion Line:Pleasure Principle
Qualifications:Named after her 1987 hit, the fancy pants (and matching bras) will all retail for under $40. "There's something for every woman, and that's very important to us," Jackson says. "I've always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable, so the fit and comfort was key." Nothing nasty about that, Miss Jackson.

    Arnold Turner, AP

    Celeb: Lenny Kravtiz
Fashion Line: Inspired by Lenny, Worn by You at Kohls
Qualifications:Hmmm, we're not sure that even Lenny's biggest fans would be inspired to wear this denim, fringe and wings ensemble, but fortunately for those who do want to emulate the the rocker's style, his jeans and t-shirts line for Kohls is a bit more traditional.

    Kevin Mazur, WireImage

    Celeb: Tara Reid
    Fashion Line: Manta
Qualifications:Sometimes an actress, always a party girl, and now a designer. According to Reid her little triangles of Lycra are more than simple poolside attire, "It's about putting into the universe what you want in life: Red means love, pink is friendship, green is lucky, black is protection. You're gonna have a story when you wear this bikini or when you put this dress on: You'll either get love or meet a new friend or you might meet a guy." Big promises from little bikinis!

    Casey Rodgers, WireImage.com

    Celeb: Katie Holmes
Fashion Line: Holmes/Yang for Giorgio Armani
Qualifications: Mrs. Tom Cruise created her own storm at the LA premiere of "Tropic Thunder," debuting the first piece from her collection with stylist pal Jeanne Yang. But given the dress's sleek lines and navy blue fabric two Giorgio Armani trademarks it's a good bet that Katie got more than a little help from her silver-haired mentor.

    Wireimage.com

    Celeb: La Lohan
    Fashion Line: 6126 Leggings
Qualifications:Lindsay Lohan's collection owes its name to Marilyn Monroe born on 6/1/26 but it doesn't look like she captured what made the '50s bombshell so sexy. Does the modern American woman really need leopard print "ankle gloves"? Or glimmer leggings? Seems like La Lohan is channeling no one but...Lindsay.

Britney Says "No Kids, No Tour!"

Celeb Kids, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting

Of all the celebrity tour demands we've heard thus far, this one take the cake! Despite the fact that Britney Spears is set to launch her "Circus" tour on March 3 in New Orleans, Brit is threatening to pull the plug on her shows unless sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, can come along for the ride.

Why the fuss? Britney is concerned about who will watch her kids while she is gone.

Britney, her father Jamie Spears, and Kevin Federline had made an amicable agreement that would allow the kids to travel with their mother. In exchange for the privilege, Brit would allegedly pay Kevin $4,000 a week for each week she's on tour.

And although Britney would have homes across the country within commuting distance of her shows, when K-Fed's lawyers heard about the proposal, they flipped -- and refuse to say why. No final agreement has been made, but Britney posted this message on her website earlier today: "Both Sean Preston and Jayden James will, in fact, be joining Britney throughout the duration of her tour." We'll have to wait and see.

But one thing is sure. Britney is finally making an effort to be in her boys' lives, to be a mom.

But Britney isn't like you or me. Sure, lots of mothers travel for work, close to half of all business travelers, according to the Travel Industry Association. But the vast majority cannot and do not bring their kids. In fact, they relish the peace and quiet of time away from the nitty-gritty of domestic life. That is exactly the one thing Britney doesn't have. Maybe, just maybe, she wants to create a home life on the road.

Even if she totes the boys right along with her, backstage and all, how much time could she really have with them? And given the nature of her concerts, would it be more appropriate and less selfish for Brit to leave them home?

Britney Spears' son rushed to hospital

Toddlers, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Britney SpearsBritney Spears' son Jayden was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, after suffering an apparent allergic reaction. Britney and her sons are visiting family in Kentwood, Louisiana. At some point in the afternoon, he became "vague and unresponsive," certainly alarming behavior for an active two-year-old. He also developed hives.

Britney called emergency services, who directed her to drive Jayden directly to the ER. A witness says the entire family went together. "They tore off so fast, it was incredible." The boy remains hospitalized so that doctors can keep an eye on him, but he's reportedly doing fine.

This was the first time Britney was allowed to take the boys out of state on her own since Kevin Federline was awarded custody. If she's doing anything but worrying right now (which isn't likely), she has to be thinking that even when she's not looking for trouble, it seems to find her.

K-Fed one of the "Most Influencial Men Under 45"

Celeb Parenting

Remember when Kevin Federline married Britney Spears? He was a laughing stock, routinely mocked in the media for taking Brit's money, getting her pregnant, and partying like a rock star (instead of a back up dancer).

But times have changed. Now K-Fed has re-tooled his image, and -- especially in light of the recent custody battle for Sean Preston and Jayden James -- appears to quite the family man. So much so, that Details magazine recently called Federline a "good father," while also placing him at number seven on their list of the "50 Most Influential Men Under 45."

He tells mag: "To be a father is...everything. It shows me how little I am."

Granted, anyone would seem like parent of the year when compared to Britney Spears, but maybe this new side of K-Fed is more than just hype?

Britney loses custody

Love & Sex, Divorce & Custody, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Media, Gadgets & Tech

A judge has ordered full custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James temporarily be given to their father this Wednesday at noon.

While it is sad news for Britney Spears, who appears mentally and emotionally unstable, it is not her children's job to keep her together. Hopefully this will be the wake-up call the young mother has needed to get her life back together.

I'm unfamiliar with the legal system, but doesn't It seem a little dangerous to leave kids with the parent who was denied custody for a day and a half?

Spears custody case documents to be made public

Divorce & Custody, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Media

Usually, family court cases are considered private and court documents are sealed when minor children are involved. But not this time. Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon has ruled that some of the court documents in the Spears-Federline custody case will be unsealed and therefore available for public consumption. In essence, the judge has said that the public's interest in the couple's case overrides any privacy concerns.

"In this matter, the children have not been afforded the choice of litigating this matter in public and must suffer the 'good and bad' as a result of the decisions of those who care for them," Gordon wrote. "The evidence presented in this case clearly demonstrates a tremendous and ongoing media interest."

I don't disagree with the judge's assertion that there is intense public interest in this case. Britney Spears' life has been publicly unraveling since she hooked up with Federline and the resulting drama fascinates and horrifies us.
But I am surprised by the judge's opinion that the public's desire to know trumps the kids' right to privacy. Do you think the judge made the right decision? Or should Sean Preston and Jayden James have the same right to privacy as do children without famous parents?

Britney's manager gets served

Love & Sex, Divorce & Custody, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Britney Spear's former manager was served papers by Kevin Federline's legal team when he visited a tanning salon yesterday.

Larry Rudolph had admitted to on Ryan Seacrest's radio show that he was actively avoiding being subpoenaed because his testimony wouldn't be flattering for Spears. Although he no longer works with the trainwreck of a pop star, he didn't want to be disloyal to the woman who fired him and blamed him for forcing her into rehab.

So far the subpoena list includes Britney's cousin Alli Sims, Britney's body guard Daimon Shippen, Promises Rehab Facility, and Britney's former assistant Shannon Funk.

When Alli was served, she started crying and with Larry admitting to have been hiding out to avoid getting served, it really makes you wonder how horrible the stuff they don't want to talk about is.

Britney blames kids for dog's broken leg

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors

Britney Spears and her doomed dogNow we know the real reason Britney Spears is bothering to fight K-Fed for custody of the couple's two children -- so she'll have someone to blame.

Turns out the former pop star's new Yorkie puppy had an unfortunate mishap, and is now wearing a cast on his little doggie leg -- but Britney swears she didn't do it.

Who's the culprit? Why, the children, of course!

Rumor (and I stress "rumor") has it that the Sean Preston and Jayden James were so enthralled with the new pooch that they chased it around the house -- even threw the poor thing around.

It was only when Brit's cousin Alli noticed the dog wasn't walking right that the manhandled pet was finally taken to the vet.

Given the way she cares for her kids, it's really no surprise that Britney's dog didn't make it more than a month without some kind of injury. But blaming two toddlers -- both of whom are under 2-years-old -- for an accident she clearly should've prevented is just sad.

God asks for Britney Spears' children back

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors

No, of course not really. But this fake news post almost had me going for a minute.

Although he cannot take the children directly back, he is starting a petition to have the kids adopted by Angelina Jolie.

"She's taking half the kids out of third world countries. She might as well scoop up the Spears kids as well," commented God.

I'm not a very religious person, but given the way that woman has been acting in recent weeks, nothing would surprise me.

In all seriousness, while the Almighty probably won't intervene in this matter, it won't be long before the courts will. In her recent divorce settlement, Britney was given split custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James -- but every time I turn around I hear about another awful story in which she's putting soda in the kids sippy cups, getting their teeth whitened, or having them "fetch momma's lollipops" (by which she means her cigarettes -- ugh).

This woman needs some help, before her kids get hurt.

Britney and Kevin officially over

Divorce & Custody, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Surprising no one in the entire world, Britney (Spears Alexander Federline) and Kevin Federline's pimaplicious marriage came to an official end yesterday.

What was unexpected was the custody agreement. In spite all Brit's latest crazy, (swimming in her underwear, falling apart during a magazine interview and the shooting of a new video, the Vegas scuffle where Sean got hurt) and reports that both family and former friends were helping Kevin in the proceedings, Britney and her ex were granted 50/50 joint custody of the couple's children, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Reportedly, neither parent is happy with the arrangement and Kevin is said to want to go back to court as early as this week to petition for a change.

The former pop star and the back-up dancer were married for a little over two years and their sons will turn 1 and 2 years old in September.

Britney's nightmarish OK! magazine meltdown

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

As Heather noted earlier this week, rumors have been circulating about the recent interview Britney Spears did for OK! magazine, during which she apparently had a total meltdown. The OK! piece was supposed to be an opportunity for the embattled ex-pop star to "tell her side of the story" in light of all the negative press she's received on account of her insane behavior. However, as you can read in article, nothing could be further from the truth.

"...after consuming her meal, stood up and rubbed grease from her fingers into the front and back of the dress. It was ruined!

...As if on cue, her new Yorkie puppy, London, followed suit by pooping on a $6,700 Zac Posen gown!

...but Britney -- who herself had used the restroom repeatedly without bothering to close the door ... When she emerged, Britney seemed disoriented. And while her behavior had been strange earlier in the day, it was now even more erratic."

Alright. Up to this point it's been debatable -- is Britney crazy, or just a little eccentric and misunderstood? But given this story -- in addition to today's news about a scuffle with photographers that left her son battered -- the only real question is: why is she still allowed to see her kids? She's clearly out of control, and -- at least until she gets her act together -- it appears Sean Preston and Jayden James may even be in physical danger while under her care.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but K-Fed, it's time to take a stand. Get full custody of those kids before something awful happens.

Britney, mom, now hitting each other

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors

Just when you thought the battle between Britney Spears and the mother she estranged through poetry couldn't get any worse, MSNBC reports that the pair's relationship has descended into physical violence. According to the site's gossip column, a recent encounter between Crazy Spears and Mama Spears resulted in a "shocking slapfest."

Apparently Britney's mom "barged into the house" and demanded to take her grandkids out for some "private time," -- all the while "denigrating Britney's mother skills." Not surprisingly, things went downhill from there. This, incidentally, was the fight that led to Britney hand-delivering court papers to her mother -- documents that bar mama from seeing Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Sure, at first the thought of a mother and grandmother smacking each other around in front of the kids seems disturbing, but maybe this is what these two need to finally resolve this domestic disagreement. I envision a full-scale boxing match, Britney in one corner, mama Spears in the other -- complete with TV cameras, endorsement deals, and maybe even hosted by Jerry Springer. As far as I can tell, it'd be the most fitting end to this otherwise depressing little saga.

Britney Spears smoking while playing with her kids

Celeb Kids, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting

Oh dear. I so very much want to root for this woman. This seemingly clueless, trashy woman. But Britney Spears makes it so freaking hard to do so. Her unending bad fashion taste is forgivable. Her public family squabbles can be excused. Even the head shaving, because who among us hasn't felt the urge to take a razor to our heads on a bad hair day. But smoking in front of your kids? No. Nuh-uh.

This picture of Spears holding a cigarette while she watches her sons frolic in a sandbox is one in a series of a captured play date. True, they are not all cooped up in a car where Sean Preston and Jayden James are forced to inhale smoke laden air, but it's still just no good. Spears just can't seem to do anything that isn't in bad taste, poor thing.

Britney uses poetry to express hate for mother

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors

Remember last week when Britney Spears dressed up in her best pair of cut-offs to hand-deliver court papers to her mother? The papers essentially said: "stay away from your grand kids" -- but today we learn that the package was full of surprises.

Also enclosed was a poem, titled "Dear Mama." In it, Britney writes "that she didn't have a mom anymore and she couldn't imagine a mother doing what she did to her child." Ouch.

There package also reportedly contained a CD full of conversations between Britney's mom, and K-Fed that were recorded by private investigators. In the phone calls, Federline arranges for meetings between Mrs. Spears and her grand kids, while also assuring her that he was winning the couple's current custody battle.

I think Britney is as crazy as the next person, and so when I first heard that she was keeping her mom from seeing Jayden James and Sean Preston, I thought she'd officially come unglued. But custody battles can be nasty, and if Britney's mother really is working with K-Fed behind her back, she might actually have had good reason to take drastic action.

Although I still think that poem was over the top.

Brit's mom sides with K-Fed over kids (plus: Are Brit and K-Fed getting back together?)

Just For Moms, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors

Divorce and custody battles suck. Plain and simple. But at least -- usually -- your family is behind you, helping you get through it. However, in the case of Britney Spears, her mom is actually siding with her ex, Keven Federline.

I can't imagine what could make that situation any worse.

That said, the reason Britney's mom is so hot on K-Fed, is that she's only allowed to see her grandkids when he has them. After Mrs. Spears took her daughter to rehab back in February, the pop star swore she'd never see mama again, and has subsequently refused give her any access to Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Brit's mom is so close with the ex-hubby, that the singer is worried she and Federline and plotting to take her kids away, reports MSNBC.

Maybe that's why Britney is considering patching things up.
