Lisa Marie Presley gives birth

Bump Watch, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Considering the grief that Lisa Marie Presley got before she announced her pregnancy last March, I don't blame her one bit for keeping quiet about giving birth. But the word is out now and her publicist confirms that Elvis Presley's only child is a mom again. She and her husband Michael Lockwood welcomed their twin girls this past Tuesday and according to that publicist, "babies and mom are happy and healthy and resting at home."

The girls names have not been revealed, but we do know that they arrived via C-section, one weighing in at 5 pounds, 15 ounces and the other at 5 pounds, 2 ounces.

The babies make three and four for Presley, who has two teenage children from her first marriage to Danny Keough - 19-year-old Danielle Riley, and 15-year-old Benjamin Storm.

Congratulations to Presley and Lockwood!

Minnie Driver pregnant

Bump Watch

Minnie Driver is taking cues from other celebrity moms, revealing she's pregnant after a crack about her weight (like Lisa Marie Presley), making the announcement on late night TV (like Britney did when she was expecting Jayden James), and is keeping mum about who the father is (like Northern Exposure's Janine Turner).

The 38 year old Oscar nominee said she's four months "and a little bit" and has been plagued with the dreaded morning sickness that lasts all day.

In addition to an impressive acting resume, Driver has released two albums, Everything I've Got in My Pocket and SEASTORIES. Audio samples of her songs are available on her website.

Lisa Marie Presley suing over weight, pregnancy outing

Just For Moms, Pregnancy & Birth, Money & Work, Bump Watch, Celeb Parenting, Rumors, In The News, That's Entertainment

Lisa Marie Presley is mad. Suing mad. Pregnant suing mad. The target of her rage is a tabloid magazine who called her out on her weight, forcing Lisa Marie to reveal her pregnancy.

The magazine went as far as comparing her to her late father, the great Elvis Presley, whose own weight ballooned before he infamously passed away. Lisa Marie's spokeswoman (how is this different than a publicist?) agreed the stories had gone too far, especially those concerning her late father and her relationship with her mother, Priscilla Presley. Claims were made Lisa Marie and her mother were fighting over her weight.

The fallout from this is that Lisa Marie felt forced to reveal that she was not, in fact, "fat" but that she was pregnant. I feel awful for her, really. Other celebrity moms seem to have been able to fend off the press--Angelina Jolie, JLo and Christina Aguilera come to mind.

Clearly the press picked the wrong pregnant celeb to pick a fight with. This one is suing. Depending on the outcome, others may follow. After all, a woman's pregnancy--and the ability to keep it to herself--is her right. Once she has the baby, however, then she's going to have to say SOMETHING. )

Lisa Marie Presley pregnant

Fun & Activities, Bump Watch, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Lisa Marie Presley's rep confirmed to PEOPLE magazine that Elvis' beloved baby girl is expecting a baby of her own in the fall.

The baby will be the 40 year-old singer's first child with 4th husband Michael Lockwood. The couple were married in a traditional Japanese ceremony in Kyoto, Japan on Jan. 22 in 2006.

Presley's prior spouses include Danny Keough, singer Michael Jackson, and actor Nicholas Cage. She has two children, daughter Riley, 18, and son Benjamin, 15, with Keough.

If I were to remarry, I would think it would be with the understanding that I don't require any more kids to complete the relationship. But I'd be coming in with four kids already and if he never had kids and really wanted to experience the new baby stuff, I'd probably cave because baby heads just smell so delicious. We'd have to go the surrogate or adoption route though, because my baby baking days are over no matter how how much I liked the guy.

Would you have more kids with a future spouse? Would the ages of your existing kids play a role in your decision?

Hollywood marriages

Love & Sex, Celeb Parenting, Behaving Badly

Part of me likes to think that Hollywood marriages aren't even remotely the same thing as, say the marriage of two average, non-celebrity types like me and my husband. Those two concepts are like synonyms to me--they sound the same but have totally different meanings.

It's just possible that celebrities think the same thing. Today I read a glorious recap of the shortest-lived Hollywood marriages. It was pretty funny. Although there was a shorter-lived union among them, my favorite was Cher marrying Greg Allman. I can totally see the appeal. And I don't really care what Cher does, I think she's pretty cool.

Also on the list were other favorite Hollywood marriages of mine such as Nicholas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley and Britney Spears marrying her girlhood sweetheart. What was THAT all about? Clearly it was a sign of things to come.

Now, now you say, plenty of celebrities have managed to stay married for more normal amounts of time. Many celebrities indeed have tried to face down the odds and stay together despite the media's desperation that one of them cheat or whatever.

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward are the perfect example of a hot Hollywood couple who managed to stick together for longer than most non-celebrity marriages last! I suppose when there are no children involved, a celebrity-mini-marriage break up is rather no harm, no foul.

But when kids are involved it can be just as sticky as if the couple'd been married for ages. Some would say that these quickie-marriages followed by even quicker divorces spits in the face of all that marriage stands for. Others would say that marriage is a joke anyway until anyone can marry anyone else. I can't really comment on that, but I will say that I'm glad my marriage, for better or worse, is not under the constant spotlight.

And as for Paul and Joanne? Well, all I can say to that is she got the last good one.

On a totatlly unrelated note: Paul Newman--is he the sexiest man ever--even now???????????

Lisa Marie Presely looking a lot like dad

Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting

Lisa Marie Presley has always bore more than a passing resemblance to her father, Elvis Presley. But the older she gets, the more striking the resemblance becomes. She may have inherited only a fraction of his talent, but she definitely got dad's smoldering eyes and snarly lip. And yes, an obviously healthy appetite.

Lisa Marie's appearance has changed drastically since August, when she released her 'duet' with dad singing his 1969 hit song In The Ghetto. The king of rock and roll was also the king of the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. And that diet, along with his many other excesses, took a toll on his health. I just hope Lisa Marie isn't heading down that same road. But even though she's heavy and compared unfavorably with her own mother, I prefer an overweight natural look to a thin plastic one any day.
