Naomi Watts says Breastfeeding Lead to Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss
Newborns, Just For Moms, Pregnancy & Birth
As you may recall it's only been a few weeks since actress Naomi Watts had her second child. The Mulholland Drive star and beau Liev Schreiber welcomed son Samuel on December 13; recently, they spotted on the red carpet promoting Schreiber's latest endeavor, Defiance, and Naomi was looking quite svelte. Her secret? According to the actress breastfeeding is the cause of her post-pregnancy weight loss. Says Watts, "[Samuel] is sucking it all out of me, it seems." She went on to say that the baby himself weighed nearly 8 pounds and that his birth aided in her weight loss as well.
I am not sure how much weight Ms. Watts gained with her second spawn, but let's do that math: the average baby weighs about 7.5 pounds. The placenta and water and "whatnot" as I like to call it can weigh approximately eight to 12 more pounds (although that sounds like a LOT to me, don't you agree?). Thus, a pregnant woman could feasibly drop anywhere from 15 to 19 pounds upon delivery depending on the size of her baby. For a woman gaining the average recommended weight of about 25 to 35 pounds, that would leave her with about 10 or 15 pounds to lose post-baby.
If any of this is true, Watts could be well on her way toward losing that a month post-baby, between nursing and running around after her other son, eighteen-month-old Alexander. Either way, she looks healthy and great. I wish the media would stop focusing so much attention on celebrity moms' weight -- we all know they're going to lose it eventually, because they get paid to be skinny, but it seems like some sort of sick contest to see who can get the skinniest the fastest. Naomi seems pretty grounded in her motherhood and her health, though, so hopefully she's not succumbing to the pressure to be super-thin ten minutes after she gave birth!
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber Name Their Son
Newborns, Pregnancy & Birth, Life & Style

Well, folks, we finally have a name. In a world where we have celebrity children named things like Pilot Inspektor and the recent Bronx Mowgli, we all waited with bated breath to see what king Kong actress Naomi Watts would name the newest addition to her family.
Naomi and partner Liev Schreiber welcomed a second son into the world this past Saturday and the tot has been named...get ready for it: Samuel. Yep, that's it. Nothin' crazy 'bout that. Just good old, classical "Samuel." I like the ring of that, don't you? In fact, I was at one time considering it as a possibility for our son. Kudos to Naomi and Liev for keeping it real. Samuel weighed in at 7 pounds, thirteen ounces (that's a big boy!).
Samuel joins brother Alexander who is just over fifteen months old. Guess they were trying to get the babies out of the way all at once, eh? What's interesting to me about this celebrity baby naming business is that the parents don't normally do what my OBGYN terms as giving kids names that fit within the family. For example, my son is named Mercer, which is a somewhat unusual name. I was considering the name Charlotte for my daughter and my OB said the Charlotte did not sound like the name of a girl who had a brother named Mercer. Samuel sounds very much like he has a brother named Alexander.
Congrats to the happy couple, on the birth of their son, and for giving him a name that he won't be ashamed of when he hits preschool!
Naomi Watts and Leiv Schreiber Welcome Baby #2
Newborns, Pregnancy & Birth, Bump Watch
Looks like Christmas (or whatever holiday they choose to celebrate) is coming early this year! Proud parents Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts welcomed their second child into the world this past Saturday. According to reports, both the baby -- a boy -- and mom are doing well.
Naomi and Liev, who've been a couple since 2005, are already parents to older brother Alexander Pete Schreiber who is about fourteen months old. Seeing as how they laid pretty low under the radar with the naming of their first son, most likely they'll stick with something pretty normal this go around too.
At press time, no details such as the name and weight were available. Reps for Watts confirmed the birth, which took place in New York City. So, the newbie is a native New Yorker!
Congratulations to the happy couple! Also, from experience, good luck raising two kids who are both under the age of two!
Naomi Watts pregnant again
Love & Sex, Pregnancy & Birth, Bump Watch, Life & Style, Rumors, That's Entertainment

According to the rumor mill, which has been churning for a while now on this one, actress Naomi Watts is pregnant with her second child. The Aussie is allegedly four months along.
Watts is married to fellow actor Liev Schreiber, with whom she has son Alexander, who will turn one this July. Watts' best friend, Nicole Kidman, is due this year as well, just a few months before Naomi, if the rumors are true. Hey, no time like the present to get moving with making your family. Have all the kids now and then get back to your original shape and all that movie-making business, eh?
Good luck and congratulations to Naomi and Liev!
Naomi Watts whips out a boob

One of the blessings of the Hollywood baby boom has been the willingness of famous parents to keep it real. I've always loved Aussie actress Naomi Watts, and now I like her even more. During her recent interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Naomi revealed her secret for quieting her seven-month-old son Alexander during a flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles: stick a boob in his mouth.
Apparently little Alexander wasn't happy to board the flight, even though he was sitting in first class. Naomi noted that she started getting "glaring eyes" (an expression easily recognized by any parent) from the other passengers, so she decided to soothe her son by breastfeeding.
"He's too young for drugs. So I just put him on the boob," she said.
I know a lot of men who will now want to sit next to her on an airplane and whine, hoping for the same treatment.
Naomi Watt's post-baby slimming secrets

Bah. Naomi Watt looked skinny and amazing a mere three months after the birth of her son, Alexander Pete last night while hosting a Calvin Klein event in London.
When asked how the heck she managed to get her figure back so soon postpartum, Watt's giggled to People magazine, "I've got a lot of solid undergarments" while looking down at her figure-hugging black Calvin Klein sheath dress.
She graciously added, "Good classic lines can also help cheer up an out of shape body."
Gee, thanks for the tip, Naomi. I'm sure the vegetarian, macrobiotic, seaweed based freaky diet and eight hours of workouts with a trainer a day had NOTHING AT ALL to do with your amazing fitness. It's ALL due to underwear and cut of the clothing. Riiight.
Naomi Watts has a baby boy!

According to a source, the sex of the child was a surprise even for the new parents. "This is a dream come true for both of them and they've done everything in their power to make it as special as possible, right down to staying in the dark about the baby's sex right up until Naomi gave birth," the source says.
Watts and Schreiber costarred in 2005's Painted Veil, but Watts is probably best known for her role in King Kong. Schreiber has been in all kinds of movies that I've never seen, but he's a cutie and I should be paying closer attention! Congratulations to the new parents!
