Recently someone wrote into ParentDish about having had multiple miscarriages. She was, from what I could tell from the tone of her email, basically at her wit's end about what to do. More importantly, this woman (who shall remain anonymous) asked for comfort more than for advice.

Having a miscarriage is essentially the worst thing, emotionally as well as physically, that most women face. Never mind that the statistics show that as many as 15--20% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. Never mind all the words of wisdom and experience posted all over the web offering helpful how-to's on avoidance, spotting the symptoms of one and what to do about it when you do.

Those tips only serve to provide the woman with a sense that she is in control of her miscarriage. Which is, in and of itself, a terrible thing. It's true that the majority of miscarriages are attributed to abnormalities in the chromosomes. That still doesn't make anyone feel better about having one, does it? I wouldn't think so.

While many women will face having one miscarriage in their lifetime (many of them without even knowing it; they think they've had an unusual period), some will face more than one.

I can't decide if I'm happy or creeped out by all this hoopla surrounding Nichole's alleged and now apparently confirmed pregnancy. Nichole doesn't exactly lead a healthy lifestyle, which has been well-documented, and now faces jail time for her most recent DUI. Not exactly mother-to-be behavior.

However, that said, as a good friend of mine always says, a new baby is a new life in the world, and that is a beautiful thing. I agree with her. I just hope she can manage to clean up her lifestyle before bringing said life into the world.

I think Nichole has the will power to do this. Motherhood, as I've noted from personal experience, really does change you. At least it can if you let it. I'm hoping Nichole does.

I always thought the rumors were true. I mean, I came back from a road trip and thought this was all taken care of, that Nichole had admitted her bun in oven situation. That turned out to be speculation, I guess...

According to the reproductive experts at E!News, Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman are expecting their first child.

Her estranged father has confirmed the news and through magazine interviews has wished her all the happiness in the world (or at least all the happiness he was unable to provide her before she got rich and famous) but so far Christina and husband Jordan Bratman have remained mum on the topic.

And why wouldn't they? Announcing a pregnancy doesn't end speculation, it just seems to make it open season for the holy-cow-look-how-big-she-is photographs (See: Spears, Britney) and adds to the frenzy.

Good job, Christina. You're already showing good parenting sense by keeping everyone guessing!

After weeks of speculation whether Nicole Richie's newly rounded tummy was due to cheese pizza or a bun in the oven, In Touch Weekly and TMZ.com are confirming that that Paris Hilton's best frienemy is indeed expecting.

This has to have been a crazy time for Nicole: most of her friends have been arrested or put into rehab, she's due in court for driving while under the influence, and she's been dealing with first trimester pregnancy issues. It's been anything but a Simple Life for the ballerina girl!

Nichole and boyfriend Joel Madden are said to be engaged are expecting the baby in January. Think the news has Grandpa Lionel has dancing on the ceiling?
