Suri Cruise Wearing Heels?
Preschoolers, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Behaving Badly, In The News, Playground Bureau, Weird But True
Little Suri Cruise was spotted wearing heels while shopping with her mom, Katie Holmes. Inappropriate or just dress up?
That's what our sister site, StyleList, wants to know: "We aren't sure if Suri was playing dress up with some new gear or if the mature footwear was part of her actual outfit for a stroll around the city -- we also spied the three-year-old wearing Keds the same day."
Suri was also recently spotted sporting what appeared to be lipstick. Is this just a little role play, or is this little girl growing up way too soon?
Suri Cruise Plays Dress-Up in Designer Duds
As long as they get dressed, the rest is just details.
Tom Cruise has said that, like a typical tot, daughter Suri Cruise likes to choose her own clothes every morning, too, and prefers dresses. But for some reason, I never see her in mismatched socks or blindingly opposing patterns. Is that she has her mom's sense of style? Or is it because at age three, she already has the closet of a fashionista?

Suri Cruise stands up on Broadway
Toddlers, Fun & Activities, Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting
One of the things I was most excited about when we decided to leave Boise and move east was the chance to live close to all the wonderful culture that New York City has to offer. Boise, Idaho is a beautiful place, but not the most happening town in the world. But living just a short train ride from the Big Apple, I imagined we would visit museums, see Broadway shows and soak up the diversity that is NYC. And we do, every chance we get.Our very first outing in the city involved a trip to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway. Tickets were expensive (we paid $130 each for the cheap seats), so just being there was a special treat for all of us. We loved the show, except for the part where the little princess in front of us talked and sang throughout the entire performance. She looked to be about two-years-old and her mother looked to be oblivious as her child stood in her seat, clapped her hands and asked a million questions using her outside voice.
That a two-year-old would have a good time at a Broadway show is not surprising. But should a child who is too young to understand theater etiquette even be there? Tom Cruise thinks so. Little Suri Cruise has seen Hairspray on Broadway twice now. And from the sounds of it, her behavior wasn't much more considerate than the child who sat in front of us.
Tom and his sister Cass accompanied 2-year-old Suri to last Friday's performance and according to witnesses, Suri spent much of the time standing in her seat. Tom apparently tried to gently coax her back onto her bottom, but without much success. For the Cruise's, shelling out hundreds of dollars for a few hours of entertainment is no big deal. But I wonder if those who sat behind them felt like they got their money's worth. Would you take a two-year-old to a Broadway show? And then allow her to stand in her seat during the performance?
Tom Cruise totes tot's toys
Toddlers, Preschoolers, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting
Tom Cruise is known for being an action hero of sorts -- from prancing about in his skivvies in Risky Business to chasing about as super spy Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible series -- but that doesn't mean he can't carry his kid's playthings out in public. In fact, he was spotted doing just that recently in New York. From a stuffed bunny to a Cabbage Patch doll and from a coloring book to a baby bottle, he'll apparently carry anything his little Suri might need for a day or even a night on the town. So is he no longer the macho star he was before parenthood? Of course not! You can't get much more manly than to carry a child's toy for them, if you ask me.
No, if you want to rag on Tom Cruise, don't do it for taking care of his kid. There are plenty of other things to ridicule him for: his bad acting, the whole space alien religion thing, and his propensity for hopping up and down on talk show hosts' couches.
Suri Cruise STILL sporting a baby bottle
Toddlers, Eating & Nutrition, Development, Celeb Kids, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting, In The News, That's Entertainment, Mealtime, Extreme Childhood

Suri Cruise is nearly two and a half years old. Heaven knows you couldn't forget that if you tried. And while she has more fashion sense than pretty much any other tot on the planet, there is one thing that seems to still give us all pause. No, it's not how her celebrity parents could have actually spawned her, nor is it how much is spent keeping her best-dressed and -tressed. Nah--it's that thing where she's still carrying around a baby bottle.
Yes, still. It seems like this first made the news when Suri was more than a year old and still using a bottle. Like sippy cups are so great. Now she's making headlines again for still sporting the baby bottle--when she's not even really a baby. My question is this: what is the big deal? My kid is nearly seventeen months old and he still occasionally uses a bottle. We've tried really hard to break him of the habit, but, for a while, he simply eschewed the sippy cup. He could use one, sure, but he couldn't get the same amount of milk from the sippy as from the bottle. So, we let him roll with it. Eventually, he switched over to predominantly using the sippy.
I know there are standards and practices for how we're supposed to raise our children. I know that guidelines have been set to help us make our way through this crazy maze called parenthood. But with issues as large as world hunger, violence, abuse and immunizations out there for us to tackle, why does anyone give a rat's butt about whether or not Suri Cruise still uses her baby bottle? I feel sorry for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes--they're busy people who are trying to raise a kid and have full-time jobs too. it ain't easy. And not every kid fits the model she's supposed to. Is it really the end of the world if Suri still uses a bottle?
Katie Holmes - Time for a bump watch?
Now the the Jolie-Pitts have delivered their much-anticipated twins, the world needs a new belly to watch. Katie Holmes is a likely target, and The Daily Mail is reporting that Tom Cruise's wife is sporting a mysterious belly bump. Looking over the pictures, all I have to say is that if that's a baby bump, then I've been pregnant for, oh, about 16 years. (Note to The Daily Mail: That's not a bump... that's a big lunch.) While we're on the subject of Suri's mom, can we talk about something? Not the mom hair, which Katie recently and wisely cut into a much cuter pageboy. I'm talking about those jeans, those pegged jeans. I'm having 8th grade flashbacks, and believe me, that's not a good thing. But she's been in those baggy, pegged jeans pretty frequently lately, which, stylish woman that she is does make a person wonder....
Is Katie just trying to fit in with the other moms on the playground, or do you think she's making room for baby number two?
Tom and Katie want their privacy
Babies, Celeb Kids, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting
That's why Tom and Katie have sicced their lawyers on Petit Tresor, a high-end baby boutique in Los Angeles. Not only have they been blabbing about how much the famous couple spend in the store, according to Cruise and Holmes, they have inflated the numbers.
A cease-and-desist letter was sent to the store accusing reps of invading their privacy and putting out false information. They specifically object to Petit Tresor's assertion that the couple spent between $350,000 and $400,000 on baby items and accuse them of spreading the lies "for the purpose of enhancing [the store's] image and obtaining a commercial advantage."
I don't often agree with Tom Cruise, but he is right - he and his family have a right to privacy when it comes to their personal shopping habits. However, I have always kind of assumed that shopping at Petit Tresor is like having lunch at The Ivy: celebs go there because they want the attention. Surely there are many more discreet places to purchase high-end baby gear than paparazzi-infested Petit Tresor.
Did Suri Cruise get a new haircolor?
Suri Cruise, daughter of actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes recently celebrated her 2nd birthday, officially becoming a Big Girl. However, recent photos of the cutie have the internet abuzz with the question: did this little child really get a hair color change?
Photos of the formerly raven-haired tyke leaving a Manhattan hotel with her similarly dark-haired parents make Suri's hair appear to have become three shades lighter practically overnight. Speculation on this phenomena ranges from being due to the angle of the lighting, bleaching in the sun, children's hair naturally fading as they grow, and to a chemical treatments.
If Suri's hair has been chemically treated: umm, why?! And also, could I have the name of that colorist? My kids' hair looks fine, it's their mama that could use some help!
Jerry O'Connell is funny and thinks Tom Cruise is too-video
Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Behaving Badly
The leaking of the fascinating videos of Tom Cruise accepting his Scientology medal of Supreme Alienness (or whatever that was all about) and his Rah! Rah! Scientology! interview gave actor Jerry O'Connell more than enough material to create this hilarious spoof.
It doesn't matter how Suri was conceived or by whom, the fact remains she is one adorable baby with one intensely nutty-sounding daddy.
Suri Cruise is a 'strong woman'
I know it seems that our children grow up way too fast, but Katie Holmes might be getting a little ahead of herself. While attending a Glamour magazine event last week, Holmes was quoted as saying that little Suri Cruise is a "strong woman." Out on the town without Tom, Holmes uttered a few more memorable quotes regarding her daughter. "She's actually teaching me a lot – probably more than I'm teaching her," she said. She goes on to say that Suri is "very smart and strong" and "really magical."Except for the smart and strong part, Holmes cannot have meant any of that literally. She is clearly in awe of her beautiful little girl and like most parents, wants to sing her praises to anyone who will listen. Unfortunately, when your little girl is Suri Cruise and her dad is Tom, everyone really is listening and then repeating what you said with a snicker.
Suri Cruise 'conceived like Rosmary's Baby'
Celeb Kids, Celeb Parenting, Rumors
In the book, Morton makes a number of claims that have Scientology lawyers talking lawsuit and Cruise issuing vehement denials. One of the most bizarre claims involves little Suri Cruise's conception. According to Morton, Suri was "conceived like Rosemary's Baby". By that, he means that Suri was the result of a sperm donation. No big deal there. However, he says that sperm came from the late L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Church of Scientology. Okay, that is a little weird.
Morton surmises that Katie Holmes may feel she was in "the horror movie Rosemary's Baby, in which an unsuspecting young woman is impregnated with the Devil's child".
Cruise's lawyer, Bert Fields, says that claim is "sick and bizarre" and that the entire book is "poorly researched and badly written, and it's not really even about Tom Cruise - it's an attack on Scientology."
I've heard these rumors about Suri's conception before and find them hard to believe. Mostly because Katie got pregnant so early in the relationship with Tom that I just cannot imagine she would willingly go along with such a scheme. If there is brainwashing and mind control involved in Scientology - as some claim - surely it takes a little while to get a girl under that spell.
The book goes on sale in the U.S. January 15, but due to fear of defamation lawsuits, it isn't being released in the UK or Australia at all.
Suri Cruise: Face of an angel, voice of a polar bear?!
Development, Celeb Kids, Rumors, That's Entertainment
A production company has offered the Berlin Zoo five million dollars for the rights to the story of the zoo's uber-cute polar bear born in captivity, Knut. Knut was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth and raised by zookeeper, Thomas Doerflein and celebrated his first birthday last month.
And the producer of the proposed animated feature has someone famous already in mind to do the voice of young Knut: Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
"I see the heartwarming relationship between Knut and his caretaker, Thomas Doerflein at the center of the movie ... Suri [Cruise] could speak the English voice of Knut." said producer Ash R. Shah.
Obviously if they are just discussing rights, the movie is still years away and Suri will have a large enough vocabulary (perhaps even reading skills!) by then, but has Shah even heard Suri speak? Not all little kids voices are adorable (ask me how I know!) Also, Knut lives in Berlin. Shouldn't his accent be German rather than Scientologist?
Suri Cruise has great shoes
Celeb Kids, Life & Style, Celeb Parenting
I imagine being very wealthy is fun. Beyond being able to make the mortgage payment on your fabulous home, the ability to buy whatever you want whenever you want has got to be a blast. At least for a while. But after all that shopping, eventually you are going to run out of things to buy, right? Seriously, at some point you have everything you have ever wanted and then what? Well, that's when you start getting creative. Like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have with little Suri. Daddy is very rich and that little girl undoubtedly has the very best of everything. From her head to her toes, she is always perfectly turned out, looking like a living and breathing doll. But what about those toes? According to OK!, the littlest Cruise is getting some fancy footwear from Santa this year. At 18-months-old, Suri has had a mold created of her feet from which a custom-made pair of Christian Louboutin shoes will be made. At what cost these perfect shoes? $2,500 just for the mold! For shoes she will outgrow in a matter of months!
I wonder what happens to Suri's fancy clothes when she outgrows them. Are they donated to less-fortunate children? Handed down to younger family members? I don't know what it is like to be wealthy, but a $2,500 pair of shoes for a toddler seems wasteful and indulgent to me.
Tom Cruise is tired and impartial
Tom Cruise is a busy guy. He is the head of a movie studio, stars in major motion pictures and has a young wife and daughter at home. No wonder he's tired. How does he deal? "Just like everybody else, you just work it out," he tells Entertainment Tonight. "We've gotten pretty good at organizing everything. I don't sleep much anyway." Of life with the wife and kid, he says it is ""all very good, all very lovely." I am sure Tom and Katie have help, but I don't begrudge them that. Seriously, if I could pay someone to take care of some of my stuff, I would. In another interview, this time with Hello! magazine, Tom talks about how he treats his biological daughter Suri exactly the same as he does his two adopted children, Isabelle and Connor. "I wanted to be a father all my life. Truly, it makes no difference to me between my adopted children and Suri. I've never separated them in my thoughts - I just don't feel that way about it," he says.
After reading that, I had to wonder how that discussion even came up. Did Hello! really ask if he favored his biological child over his adopted children? Or did Cruise volunteer that little bit of obvious information. I can speak from my experience of raising one child I gave birth to and one that I didn't: there is no difference in the love a parent feels for their child, regardless of how that child came to be.
