First off, let me say that an unnamed "source" is not someone you want to wager your life savings on. When that source is talking to the Star, you probably wouldn't even want to put your lunch money at risk. That said, if any of these allegations are true, then K-Fed is definitely the better choice for being the custodial parent of his kids with Britney Spears.

MSNBC reports that, according to an upcoming Star exposé, Britney "lets [the boys] sit in soiled diapers for hours until someone else changes them," and "keeps both children up late at night to ensure they sleep late -- this includes waking them up if they fall asleep before 11 p.m." If that's not enough, "she tried to whiten [Sean Preston's] teeth using Crest Whitestrips, but he kept crying. Finally, Britney threw the strips away, telling Sean, 'Fine, you'll just have ugly teeth then!'"

What's worse is the verbal bashings she gives the boys. The source claims that "when Britney is upset, she yells and screams at the boys and once told them, 'You were both mistakes!' She's called them 'burdens, a pain in the ass and the reason (your) father left,'" Ugh. If any of that is true, perhaps CPS should step in to find the kids a better home. I don't know if Federline would be any better, but it hardly seems like he could be much worse.

We've all been talking about Nicole Richie lately as if we knew for a fact she was pregnant. Because she has remained quiet on the subject, I thought there was a least a small possibility that it wasn't true. And frankly, I hoped it wasn't true. One look at her and it is obvious that she hasn't resolved her 'weight issue' and she's about to serve jail time for DUI. This just doesn't seem the ideal time to be taking on the awesome responsibility of a child.

But now the cat is out of the bag and the bun is officially in the oven - Richie has confirmed that she is indeed with child. Her rock and roll boyfriend of seven months, Joel Madden, is the daddy and the baby is due this winter. "Yes, I am. We are. I'm almost four months," she tells ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an interview scheduled to air Thursday and Friday.

She also addresses her DUI conviction in the interview, telling Sawyer "I have a responsibility and it's something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would. And unfortunately I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult." Take that, Paris.

So, official congratulations to Nicole and Joel. Britney has set the bar pretty low, let's hope these two can can raise it a bit.

The one thing that I always found curious about the whole Kevin Federline story was the assertion from his ex, Shar Jackson, that he was a great dad and that he really cared about his kids. I mean, he left this woman while she was pregnant with his child to run off with Britney Spears. This image of a doting father just didn't square with the baby-making, girlfriend-leaving, hard-partying rapper dude persona portrayed in the press. But as we've seen in recent months, there is another side to Federline.

As evidenced by his recent shopping trip to Los Angeles baby boutique Petit Tresor, Federline can, and will, spend big bucks to make his children happy. According to my favorite rag, Star Magazine, Federline spent $14,000 sprucing up his kid's rooms in his $3.2 million dollar rented home.

He may dress like a gangsta from the hood, but he is pretty traditional when it comes to decorating nurseries. According to a source, Federline personally chose the pricey items for each of the boys he shares with Britney and "really put his heart and soul" into the task. For Sean Preston, he went with a sports theme. Little Jayden James gets a nursery rhyme theme, complete with Kaloo stuffed animals and Alvin and Sparky bears.

Of course, with Britney's money, he can afford to be generous with their children. But I still think it is sweet that he would personally choose the items for their rooms.

It seems as if things have just taken a turn for the worse for Britney Spears. First there were all of the concerns about her mothering skills, then the divorce from Kevin Federline and the crotch baring photos plastered all over the Internet. Let's not forget the head shaving and the trip to rehab.

Seems as if Britney isn't too happy with Mama Spears these days. TMZ has a video of Britney handing her mom a letter of some sorts. Sources are telling the site that the letter is that from a lawyer requesting that Mama Spears, who they claim has her own "issues," stays away from Brit's children if she is under any medication that might impair her ability to be around them.

Britney seems to be the one out of sorts in the video as she seems very jumpy and agitated. I can understand that she's upset, her Mom recently spoke with the tabloid US Weekly, a mag that doesn't count Britney as a fan. But... a letter from a lawyer? To your Mom?

I can get understanding wanting to protect your kids. But this just seems like another grasp at straws from someone who is obviously way in over her head with life. You tired of the media attention? Tired of the magazines and photographers?

Nobody is forcing you to stay in California. Pack up that house, invest your money properly and move those babies somewhere where they can have a good life. And, for goodness sakes, keep those panties on.

Hopefully, for the sake of the entire family (and the babies), old Brit Brit will come to her senses. Cutting family off, especially when you have such a small inner circle, is never the way to go.

Now this is what we've all been waiting for. After a nasty divorce, a custody battle, a shaved head and a rehab stint, Britney is thinking maybe she's been a little rash, and wants to reconsider her divorce to K-Fed.

"I'm not divorcing you!" Spears apparently told Federline in a recent phone conversation. "I want my family back!" Though, how anyone would know what transpired during a private phone conversation is beyond me.

That said, the news of the possible reconciliation comes from the National Enquirer, so they may have had the two-headed bat child hover over the pop star's mansion with a supersonic satellite listening device invented by aliens who miraculously lost 459 lbs in only 3 weeks.

In the event that this is true, things could get ugly -- namely because K-Fed isn't interested in patching things up (which, seeing as Britney left him and has been sleeping with other guys, isn't exactly surprising).

But remember Kevin, hell hath no wrath...

In an article that trounces the Hollywood trend of "throwaway children," journalist Andrea Peyser makes an interesting argument: between Britney and K-Fed, the latter is the better parent.

How could this be? The man is a borderline national embarrassment, right? Or, at least in this case, maybe that's a good thing. According to Peyser: "Maybe it's because he's a loser - one who is making a calculated joke on his status, appearing in a Super Bowl commercial as a lowly fry cook." Maybe, or perhaps the paparazzi aren't as interested in following around an ex-husband who won't be flashing anyone as gets out of limos.

But is it true? When you compare K-Fed to the "overprocessed, gum-snapping hair extension that is Britney," does he look like a decent father?

Rumor has it, Britney's friends think she's pregnant...again. Oops. This could make the divorce from K-Fed just a little more awkward.

According to a "pal," who spoke with In Touch Weekly, "She's heavier, but that's not it. It's the sparkle in her eye. She always gets that sparkle when she's pregnant, like she's relaxed and happy."

"She's heavier" refers the pregnancy weight that celebrity watchers don't think she's losing (although, I'll admit, this is something I haven't noticed). In addition, Britney's been getting sick a lot lately, and choosing bottled water over booze at parties.

This would be the second time that Britney was pregnant within four months of giving birth.

And, not that I have any substantive information on which to make this assertion, but, it should be noted that this kid could be fathered by the new guy Britney's been running around with.

While one celebrity mom is selling photos of her kid to the highest bidder, another is hiding hers from the spotlight. Four months after Jayden James Federline -- second son born to the ill-fated Spears-Federline household -- was born, everyone's wondering why there's no pictures of the new baby.

Is it just because she's waiting for the price of exclusive Jayden James pics to go up? Or is it because Britney and K-Fed couldn't agree about who would get the money? (Rumor has it Kevin got all the profits from pictures of the couple's first son, Sean Preston.)

Decidedly odd, seeing as every time Britney is out in public and not falling down drunk, she seems to have Sean Preston with her. According to Brandy Navarre, celebrity blogger, "This is a huge story." While I think that's pretty doubtful, I'll admit it, I'm curious.

Spears checked into the "spa" -- called Sanctuary -- on New Year's Day, and, according to an unnamed, unchecked, unverified "source", word is that "with these celebrities, 'exhaustion' sometimes means something else and a little rest at a spa sometimes actually translates into something a little more serious."

Meanwhile, K-Fed, Britney's ex and father to her children, has been getting his ass kicked in professional wrestling matches.

Parents are the world's everyday superheros. Fixing owies, keeping schedules, paying bills, instilling values -- the list is endless. But according to experts, when it comes to moms, we're asking too much.

"Unfortunately, in our society, motherhood is still very closely associated with martyrdom," says Muffy Mead-Ferro, author of "Confessions of a Slacker Mom." For some mothers, the pressure to be perfect is overwhelming -- creating a motherhood role that's "competitive, aggressive, and exhausting."

And, according to one Ivy League admissions counselor, these "overdevoted" moms may actually be hindering their children. In fact, many colleges want kids who are more independent -- left to make to make their own choices instead of being guided through every decision.

I'll admit it, I figured the break-up was probably K-Fed's fault. But, a recent rumor suggests that Britney's much fawned over relationship with J.R. Rotem -- the guy producing her "comeback" album, and a former collaborator with K-Fed -- may have started before she filed for divorce. Saucy!

There are reports from an unnamed source that all these antics are really becoming a concern to your family. Your mother Lynne said she never would have set foot out of her trailer without underwear when she was your age. You should really answer her cell calls, too, Britney. She is upset that she hasn't been able to get a hold of you over the last couple days. Your dad and your brother Brian are upset too. They've got in in their heads that you should only be showing your bald crotch to someone you're married to. And you've got to stop checking into those hotels with Paris Hilton. Your mother may not babysit for you the next time you ask her to, because she's now been taking care of your sons for four days straight. Also, Britney, people on the internet are starting to talk about how the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services is thinking about getting involved with you again. Remember those snooty ladies who visited you last April after Sean Preston fell from his high chair and hit his head? There are reports they are coming back for a follow-up appointment. The representative from the department has declined to comment, but they've got your number Britney. There are reports that they have been trying to call you. And they know where you live.

In the latest installment of Britney's divorce debacle, it appears K-Fed might be covering his legal costs by selling the couple's infamous sex tape to Britain's New of the World. $50 million for 4 minutes of Britney and K-Fed doin' the business? Sounds a little pricey to me.

And, while there's no confirmation that the offer will be accepted, here's a little advice for the estranged hubby: don't do it. Can you imagine what you'd be subjecting your children to? They're already growing up under the media spotlight, robbed of a normal childhood by geeks like me who publicize their parents' every transgression, and now they'll have to watch their parents having sex? Over and over? With the rest of the world?

I take it back. $50million isn't nearly enough money. In fact, I can't imagine what sum possibly could be.

From the never-saw-this-coming files, it's official: Britney Spears has filed for a divorce from Kevin Federline, the former backup dancer and rap-star wannabe who is the father of her two children. Spears filed the divorce papers today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing the oft-used justification of "irreconcilable differences." In her petition papers, Spears is requesting legal and physical custody of both her children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James. The petition would purportedly allow Federline reasonable visitation rights. Spears has hired high-powered LA divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented many other celebrities in high-profile divorce cases, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland. There have been reports that last week Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe each asked Wasser to represent both of them in their recent split, but Wasser declined. It is unclear who K-Fed has hired to represent him in the divorce, but even with Britney's pre-nup and the limited money the pawnbroker down the street will give him for his collection of fedoras and personalized bling, I imagine K-Fed be able to find some lawyer in the yellow pages to represent him.

Hey, at least K-Fed's music career is off to such a great start, so after the divorce is finalized he'll totally be able to afford all the Drakkar Noir he needs to meet a new baby mama. According to Spears' petition, the couple officially split yesterday. According to the aol-affiliated website TMZ, which broke news of the divorce, Spears claims there was no single reason for the split, but says it was "a string of events" that caused her to take this step.

So.  You all thought that K-Fed was a bad parent.  You heard that he left Shar Jackson when she was pregnant with his child, you read about the fact that he smoked during Britney's pregnancy, and you got wind of his partying after Sean Preston's birth.  And you jumped to the conclusion that he was a much-less-than-perfect father.

Well, Britney's mom is here to say that you're all wrong.  According to an article on People.com, "Kevin does change diapers," she tells Access Hollywood.  Not only that, but apparently Federline is so committed, he skipped the release party for his debut single (!) to spend some quality time with his wife on New Year's Eve.

Now, if that information doesn't convince you he's the father all other fathers aspire to be, I don't know what will.
